Monday:
8:00AM - 12:00PM
Worked on Annual I.T. Budget for presentation to the Board of Directors for Widgets, Inc. Jeff (CIO) and I brainstormed on how to move more CapEx expenditures to OpEx expenditures in order to stabilize cash flow for the upcoming year, while decreasing overall I.T. expenditures. Prepare Excel spreadsheet with I.T. Financial Analysis.
12:30PM - 2:00PM
Participated in a conference call with Real Estate, Inc.’s ERP vendor to identify the necessary hardware requirements for the upcoming ERP implementation. Began drafting Bill of Materials for Real Estate, Inc.
2:00PM - 6:00PM
Attended project scoping meeting for Active Directory Migration Project. Began drafting the statement of work for ABC Company’s migration. Emailed initial SOW to Paul for feedback and input on internal vs. external resource allocation.
Tuesday:
8:00AM - 5:00PM
Drafted policies and procedures for XYZ Inc’s Disaster Recovery and Preparedness Plan. Sent initial draft to Lisa for review.
Wednesday:
7:00AM - 9:00AM
Met cabling contractor at Company, Inc’s new Corporate headquarters to do a physical site inspection and review blueprints for necessary cabling infrastructure.
10:00AM - 10:30AM
Participated on a conference call with Company Inc’s new ISP to assure that the ISP cutover will be seamless during the move.
10:30AM - 1:30PM
Received comments on XYZ Inc’s Disaster Recovery and Preparedness plan from Lisa and continued documentation. Participated in a conference call with Agility Recovery Services to go over technical details of the proposed recoverability plan for feasibility.
2:00PM - 6:00PM
Wrote the Group Policy security procedure and documentation for ABC Company’s Active Directory Migration.
Thursday:
8:00AM - 5:00PM
Architected new Virtualization strategy to migrate 50 old Windows Servers to 10 new Virtual Servers. Worked with Greg from Microsoft on how to best leverage Hyper-V so that cost and energy consumption are minimized. Drew up working Visio diagrams for initial presentation to JJ Manufacturing.
Friday:
8:00AM - 9:00AM
Attended Team meeting and went over new projects on the project board.
10:00AM - 12:00PM
Worked with Managed Security vendor to identify all publicly facing web servers that needed to be penetration tested. Assisted in penetration testing procedures, and documented what was tested for FB Web Services review.
12:00PM - 5:00PM
Participated in presentation to Widgets Inc on new proposed I.T. budget with Jeff the CIO. After projecting a 20% decrease in overall I.T. spend for 2009, Board immediately approved the budget.
