The Company: Injectable Therapy Services
Injectable Therapy Services Pharmacy (ITS Pharmacy) specializes in providing quality injectable medications to those suffering from chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and other debilitating diseases. ITS's commitment to helping such patients manage their complex, high-cost healthcare needs is unmatched in the pharmaceutical community.
The Situation:
Injectable Therapy Services’ initial situation encompassed concerns with the process of information flow. Their Windows 2000 server provided adequate file, print and application services, but they needed to connect to an outside e-mail host to get their Internet e-mail. Moreover, scheduling, contact management and task management were handled by manual processes at best.
The Solution:
The client needed a technology solution that would address their issues under a modest budget, so Cal Net recommended the addition of Exchange Server.
Cal Net implemented Exchange Server, integrating in-house and public e-mail. The Exchange implementation included a migration of all e-mail accounts and saved e-mails from the old outsourced POP3 system to the Exchange server database. Outlook Web Access was configured to provide remote access to e-mail and groupware functionality. GFI Faxmaker for Exchange, which makes use of the Exchange database and Active Directory for its operation, was implemented to provide faxing capabilities from the workstations and integration of faxing with Microsoft Outlook/Exchange Server functions.
With this implementation, IT spending was reduced because in-house hosting eliminated the need for monthly recurring outsourced hosting costs. Employee productivity was increased because they could participate in centralized scheduling, and contact and task management, across the entire organization, which is all synchronized in real-time. Furthermore, user productivity was enhanced by remote access to e-mail/groupware, which gave employees corporate communication and groupware use from any PC with an Internet connection and a web browser. In a nutshell, this implementation gave ITS employees more of their time to focus on operating their business!
Why Injectable Therapy Services chose Cal Net Technology Group
Cal Net Technology Group had been managing the information systems for Injectable Therapy Services’ sister company. Based on their stellar reference, ITS selected Cal Net to address both their immediate needs as well as ongoing technology consulting and system maintenance and support.

The Company: Mann Theatres
Mann Theatres is a boutique theatre chain currently owning and operating 20 theatres with 122 screens in Southern California, with the circuit’s primary area of operation being the greater Los Angeles area.
Mann Theatres’ Los Angeles area locations include the world-famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, The Village, Bruin and National theatres in Westwood Village and The Criterion 6 in Santa Monica. Added to our lineup of premiere theatres in 2001 is Mann Chinese 6, with its Luxurious VIP Lounge, adjacent to Grauman’s in Hollywood. Known for their state-of-the-art presentation, these theatres are among the most prestigious in the industry and are host to frequent star-studded world premieres and other lavish industry events.
The Situation:
Mann Theatres found itself in a situation whereby with only 15 servers, they didn’t have the need for a full-time I.T. staff dedicated to their server side infrastructure. The servers had been relatively reliable, and they opted to focus their I.T. spend supporting the theatres and the home office users. Also, seeing as though they had multiple technologies running in their environment such as Windows Servers, Citrix, Cisco, and Checkpoint, they had to rely on outside assistance anyhow, as one it was hard to find a single individual to be able to adequately address all of their technology needs.
The Solution:
In the year 2000, Mann Theatres hired Cal Net Technology Group to outsource the support of their entire server side infrastructure as well as the over site of their WAN environment. Cal Net outfitted Mann Theatres with our “CoManage” services whereby they have better support than a full time I.T. person, at a lower cost.
For the past 6 years, Cal Net Technology Group has been providing Mann Theatres with CoManage Services. In addition, we have provided the migration from NT4.0 to 2000, and 2000 to 2003. In addition, we migrated their mail system from Notes to Exchange Server 2003.
Why Mann Theatres chose Cal Net Technology Group
Knowing that Mann Theatres had a mission critical infrastructure that needed to have absolute minimum downtime, they chose to rely on Cal Net Technology Group as opposed to an internal staff to maintain this infrastructure. They had the foresight to realize that having a group maintain the environment, as opposed to an individual, gave them additional resources, as well as peace of mind to know “that everything will be taken care of.”

The Company: Prima Royale
Prima Royale is a wholesale distribution company focusing on women’s footwear. Offering top fashion labels including Mudd, Kenzie and their own line Prima, their administrative and warehouse facility located in Irwindale receives imports from Asian manufacturers and distributes shoes to retail locations across the nation.
The Situation:
Prima Royale had an infrastructure centered on Windows 2000 Servers and Exchange Server 5.5. Remote Access to groupware was limited or non-existent. They also had uncontrollable virus issues and their Exchange database size was close to reaching its limit and crashing the entire e-mail system. Furthermore, their Active Directory configuration was incorrect, which caused major network performance issues. They needed a technology update that centered on a new communications and groupware solution that could service them reliably, seamlessly, securely and with excellent performance.
The Solution:
To address these needs, Cal Net recommended and implemented an upgrade to Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition and Exchange Server 2003. In the process of implementing these server packages, Cal Net cleaned the entire network of all viruses and corrected redundant or looping Active Directory and DNS configurations in all PCs on the network. Cal Net also migrated all the Exchange 5.5 data to the Exchange 2003 databases and configured remote access to all Exchange functions via Outlook Web Access. With the upgraded system, Exchange database size was no longer an issue because Exchange 2003 does not have the two gigabyte limitation that existed in Exchange 5.5.
A centrally managed, enterprise virus solution was implemented to protect the network on all devices and levels, especially through the Exchange Server. Performance issues were addressed by proper Active Directory configuration, workstation setup and restriction via group policies. The entire project implementation spanned about two weeks. Prima Royale now has a reliable infrastructure and companywide groupware and e-mail solution that will serve them through ample growth.
Why Prima Royale chose Cal Net Technology Group
With their Exchange 5.5 system running at maximum database capacity, Prima had an urgent need to seek specific expertise in performing their migration. Based on Cal Net’s strong experience, stellar references, and exceptionally professional presentation, Prima Royale put their trust in Cal Net to provide a smooth transition.
