Systems Engineer I

Department: Network & Client Operations
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Regional Lead Engineer
Supervises: none
Collaborates with: Technology Management, Technical Services Department and Sales

Strategic Objectives:

1. Provide proactive consultative support to 1-15 clients usually in a specified geographic area.
2. Troubleshoot computer problems, determine source and advise client on appropriate action.
3. Provide remedies for all levels of end-user workstations.
4. Field Champion: Executes Cal Net’s critical core values on a daily basis: responsiveness, caring, teamwork, excellence, integrity, and relish your work and your working relationships.

Tactical Objectives:

• Meet with 1-3 clients on a daily basis.
• Conduct routine inspections, backups, and maintenance on client’s equipment and networks.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair support as needed.
• Assess client’s network, hardware, and system support needs on a continual basis and make recommendations.
• Conduct installation of new resources (hardware, software, etc.)
• Assist with special projects, relocations, and new deployments as needed.

Comprehensive Experience with the following Technologies:

• All Windows desktop platforms, including Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000 Pro, Windows ME/98/95.
• Basic understanding of client/server networking concepts such as adding a workstation to a domain, troubleshooting basic network connectivity, etc.
• Basic understanding of Windows Server administration such as adding user accounts, etc.
• Basic understanding of Trend Microsystems Anti-Virus Software
• Experience with Terminal Server environments is a big plus.
• A thorough understanding of Microsoft Office and Outlook
• A thorough understanding of the latest Anti-Spy ware technologies.
• Experience in Mac is a big plus, but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience of hands on experience with the above technologies
• Exceptional Oral and Written Communication Skills
• Willing to do extensive regional traveling on a daily basis (typically within the Los Angeles Area)
• Willing to work occasional nights and weekends for network deployments.

Physical Requirements:

• Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Systems Engineer III

Department: Network & Client Operations or Technical Services

Reports to: Director of Network & Client Operations or Manager of Technical Services

Collaborates with: Tall Professional Services division and Sales department

Strategic Objectives:

1. Provide proactive consultative support to 1-15 clients usually in a specified geographic area.
2. Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining local and wide area networks primarily on the Microsoft platform.
3. Oversee client’s effective use of technology and make recommendations.
4. Field Champion: Executes Cal Net’s critical core values on a daily basis: responsiveness, caring, teamwork, excellence, integrity, and relish your work and your working relationships.

Tactical Objectives:

• Meet with 2-3 clients on a daily basis.
• Conduct routine inspections, backups, and maintenance on client’s equipment and networks.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair support as needed.
• Assess client’s network, hardware, and system support needs on a continual basis and make recommendations.
• Conduct installation of new resources (hardware, software, networking, etc.)

• Thorough understanding of Active Directory, Group Policies, etc.
• Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007/2010 (all of our clients run Exchange Server)
• VERITAS/Symantec Backup Exec 10x and later
• Trend Microsystem AV
• Experience with Terminal Server environments required
• Understanding of basic concepts of Firewall technologies (Cisco and Sonicwall a plus!)
• Microsoft Office and Outlook
• MCSE or higher certification preferred, but not required
• Experience in Cisco, Citrix, Mac, Storage Area Networks, & RSA are a big plus, but not required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience hands on experience with the above technologies
• Exceptional Oral and Written Communication Skills
• Willing to do extensive regional traveling on a daily basis (typically within the Los Angeles Area)
• Willing to work occasional nights and weekends for network deployments.
