Domestic Recycling Report
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 and marks the anniversary of what many people consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. At the height of the hippie counterculture in the United States, the year 1970 brought the death of Jimi Hendrix, the last Beatles album, and Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

Americans were slurping leaded gas through massive V8 sedans, and industries belched out smoke and sludge with little fear of legal consequences or any kind of bad press. Air pollution was commonly accepted as the smell of prosperity. “Environment” was a word that appeared more often in spelling bees than on the evening news. These days, particularly in a state like California, you can barely turn a corner let alone turn on your television without hearing a new report, cause célèbre, or government policy that involves the "greening" of the economy.

But before you run for the nearest tree and begin hugging very tightly (note: this is not a very effective tactic when it comes right down to it), may we remind you that there are many simple, practical ways to show your general good sense when it comes to running an "eco-friendly" business.

In light of all the progress that has been made over the past forty years, we wanted to offer suggestions for a few places that will help you get your green on!

Final Note from Cal Net Technology Group Founder and CEO, Zack Schuler:

“Lets not forget how far we have come! That day in 1970 on the 22nd of April, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. Thousands of colleges and universities organized protests against the deterioration of the environment. Groups that had been fighting against oil spills, polluting factories, and the extinction of wildlife suddenly realized they shared common values. Earth Day achieved a rare political alignment, and, with your help, the initiative can still stand strong today!”
