Cal Net Technology Group Helps Small to Mid-Size Organizations With Cloud Computing Decisions

Leading Southern California IT Consulting Firm offers clients the latest in cloud computing solutions through key channel partners

LOS ANGELES, CA (Aug 29, 2011)Cal Net Technology Group, a leading IT consulting and computer services firm, announced today their efforts to help small to mid-size organizations manage the complex choices in the cloud computing market.

According to Microsoft: “The Office 365 service offerings enable users to work with email, documents, and data from virtually anywhere and on nearly any device with a familiar productivity experience on PCs, phones, and in browsers.”

With over 14 years of experience and hundreds of clients in southern California, Cal Net has developed a proven method of successfully providing reliable services and superior expertise. Now clients are calling on the firm to help make complex choices about whether to migrate to the cloud. While there are varying factors that can determine whether or not the cloud is a fit, Cal Net has managed several successful migrations for companies with commoditized products such as email and email security services.

“Although the cloud is not appropriate for every situation, the cloud model offers solutions that may be better for certain businesses,” remarked Zack Schuler, President and CEO of Cal Net Technology Group. “We are working with our clients to provide a complete cloud assessment before helping them with their complex choices in this area.”

Some of the recent cloud projects Cal Net has helped clients with are:

  • Email Server Migration. A small corporation was recently looking to replace their email server. Since they have a small number of users on their email server, Cal Net was able to migrate them to the cloud, giving them a significant savings with little to no management.

  • Integrating Cloud Systems. Some of our education clients were early adopters of cloud services. Today Cal Net helps these organizations integrate these services. Recently, a private High School integrated their Student Information System with their student and parent portal.

  • SPAM and Virus Protection. One of the most important things companies need to do is protect themselves from unwanted email (SPAM) and viruses. Cal Net has helped transition many clients away from onsite SPAM protection to a cloud based alterative. As companies rely more and more on services delivered from the cloud, their connection to the Internet is more important than ever. Offloading unwanted SPAM messages to a third party frees up those Internet connections and speeds up the tools Cal Net clients use every day.
Added Cal Net Technology Group COO, Luca Jacobellis: “We have built an outstanding reputation based on reliable service and superior expertise. As companies begin to move their corporate data centers to the cloud, we are confident we can help access their situation to them make the right decisions while saving them money and helping them grow their businesses.”

Cal Net Technology Group selected as Microsoft Gold Certified Partner

Southern California IT consulting and computer services firm will serve businesses in need of Windows 7 migration utilizing Microsoft’s System Center Software

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 24, 2011) – Leading Southern California-based IT consulting and computer services company Cal Net Technology Group is pleased to announce its selection as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with a competency in systems management. The company will join a prestigious group of IT consulting firms that hold the “Gold Certified Partner” title.

The selection comes fresh on the heels of a report by Forrester Research that predicts a mass exodus from Microsoft XP to Microsoft 7 over the next twelve months. IT firms holding the Microsoft competency in systems management will be poised to capitalize on the migration opportunity.

According to the report: “As firms naturally refresh their PCs, IT managers are already deploying Windows 7 on 31% of new PCs today, and within a year the number will increase to 83%.”

“In the past, the requirements for gold certification were not specific to skill,” remarked Luca Jacobellis, chief operating officer of Cal Net Technology Group. “For example, when a customer was searching for help with an Exchange Server, we ended up getting mixed in with other partners that were not relevant, such as software developers. The Gold Certified Partner status allows us to target and align with small to medium size businesses who are looking for firms capable of the Windows 7 migration utilizing Microsoft’s System Center Software.”

Added Zack Schuler, founder and CEO of Cal Net Technology Group: “The requirements to earn this particular competency were challenging. We are extremely excited to have reached this goal as a company and believe that through this program we have the opportunity to serve our current clients and future prospects with a much needed competency.”

Cal Net Technology Group and The DigiTrust Group offer network security insights to L.A. accounting firms

Local accounting firms attend I.T. security discussion to hear the inside scoop from industry leaders while providing their own views on the future of network security

LOS ANGELES, Calif., November 4, 2010 – On Friday, October 22, 2010, Cal Net Technology Group, a leading I.T. consulting and computer services company serving Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange counties and The DigiTrust Group, Los Angeles’ premier information security consulting firm, hosted a private luncheon in Beverly Hills, California, for local accounting firms. The event followed the first installment geared towards not-for-profits in early October, 2010. Local firms in attendance included NSBN LLP and Rose, Snyder & Jacobs.

The Cal Net/DigiTrust event series comes hot on the heels of the “Annual Global Fraud Report”, published by risk consultancy Knoll, which states that companies in information-based industries reported a higher number of electronic theft incidents over the past year. In light of this spike in cybercrime, the event series seeks to offer key insights into the current state-of-the-art solutions for securing data and protecting networks.

“According to Knoll’s report, money lost to fraud has risen twenty percent in the last year,” remarked Zack Schuler, founder and CEO of Cal Net Technology Group. “Professional services, like accounting, were among the hardest hit, going from twenty-seven to forty percent. As a company invested in full-spectrum I.T. solutions for our clients, we recognize the importance of addressing network security issues and have partnered with the DigiTrust Group, one of the leaders in this space, to educate and inform local firms about these issues.”

Joseph Feroz, attendee and I.T. Manager at NSBN LLP, felt that both presentations attacked important topics: “Cal Net and DigiTrust gave me new insight on disaster recovery and I.T. security. I look forward to working with them in the near future.”

Cal Net Technology Group and The DigiTrust Group offer Los Angeles not-for-profits cutting edge tips for securing their valuable information

High profile, local not-for-profit organizations attend IT security roundtable to hear the inside scoop from industry leaders while providing their own views on the future of network security

LOS ANGELES, Calif., October 19, 2010 – On Friday, October 8, 2010, Cal Net Technology Group, a leading IT consulting and computer services company serving Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange counties and The DigiTrust Group, an information security consulting company based in Los Angeles, hosted a private luncheon in Beverly Hills, California, for local not-for-profit organizations.

The event featured key insights into the current state-of-the-art solutions for securing data and protecting networks in a world of rapidly advancing security threats. Additionally, not-for-profit decision makers were encouraged to share their personal experiences and concerns with regard to network security and how technological advances have both helped and hindered their efforts.

“The presentations were excellent,” remarked Karen Illig, an attendee from The Center for Early Education. “I think the information on back-up/recovery and fraud emphasized two areas many not-for-profits do not focus on and they should.”

Kevin Donnellan of The Screen Actors Guild felt that both presentations attacked important topics: “I believe the information presented during this event will prove to be beneficial to many organizations in our sector.”

Added Jason Lidow, President of The DigiTrust Group: “The goal of this event was to lay the foundation for future discussions surrounding network security and to hear directly from some of our constituents as to what they believe are the major problems and potential threats compared to what we are seeing as emerging threats in the not-for-profit sector. Along with Cal Net, a trusted partner, our experience proves that what we have to offer is a deep understanding of the information and network security threats affecting this sector and their needs. We look forward to continuing these open forums and information sharing.”

Cal Net Technology Group defines top five ways small-to-midsize businesses can boost bottom line using technology in 2010

Technology is a tool business owners can use to increase productivity and profits

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19, 2009 – Cal Net Technology Group, a Southern California-based I.T. consulting and computer services company, is advising small-to-midsize business owners how to recover from the traumatic events of 2009 and return to profitable productivity in 2010.

"As businesses start to rebuild, it is important to keep top of mind what we learned during the recession," said Zack Schuler, CEO of Cal Net Technology Group. "Returning to old spending habits will no longer be acceptable in this new economy. Businesses, especially small organizations, need to advance without spending money like it is going out of style. One way business owners can accomplish this is by making each person in their organization as productive as possible. Technology is one tool business owners have in meeting this objective."
Featured on the company blog, Schuler shares five ways business owners can increase their bottom line in 2010 using technology.

Among the tips:

The cloud is coming, the cloud is coming! The technology business is in the middle of another greatly hyped evolutionary transformation – or is it? Installing new technology systems can be one of the largest capital expenses, and cloud computing has been touted as a replacement for enterprise servers and computing. Proponents argue that cloud computing allows SMBs to pay for the computing resources they need only. This change in purchasing behavior categorizes computing costs as an operating expense and helps with cash flow. However, with the grave security concerns of cloud computer, a better option could be to lease equipment. Businesses still can manage their cash flow better while investing in secure equipment they will own within five years. Oftentimes, the cost of leasing is less per month than the cost of cloud computing, too.

Cal Net Technology Group Releases Video Marketing Campaign Starring "Leave It To Beaver's" Tony Dow

Southern California's leader in IT consulting and computer support services embraces video marketing as a targeted way to reach prospective baby boomer clients

Los Angeles, CA (September 2009) –   Cal Net Technology Group has released a video marketing campaign starring Tony Dow, who is remembered fondly for his role as Wally on 1950's hit show, "Leave It to Beaver." The campaign was developed to engage CEOs and business owners who can relate to the difficulty of understanding technology and new trends as younger generations continue to innovate.

Cal Net Technology Group caters its IT support services to this demographic and aims to convey this message through the humorous, yet all-too-relatable campaign, which portrays Dow as an aggravated CEO in various "technologically challenging" situations.

"A great majority of our clients are lead by brilliant CEOs who have built their companies from literally nothing into multi-million dollar enterprises...before technology took a stronghold," remarked Cal Net CEO, Zack Schuler. "By creating an advertising campaign specifically with this generation in mind, starring someone they recognize from their younger, carefree days, we hope prospective clients will relate to the message and trust us with their I.T needs."

Using taglines like "Our I.T. support keeps you up to date" and "We promise never to forget you," the videos display a frustrated Tony Dow seeking advice on how to fix his Outlook program and use his "BlackBerry," which he apparently doesn't realize is actually a 1980's cellular phone.

Currently, Cal Net Technology Group is serving over 300 clients in Southern California to fulfill their IT consulting and computer support needs. Current industries served include healthcare, entertainment, education, government, not-for-profit, banking, manufacturing and professional services.

CAL NET CEO WINS SMALL BUSINESS ENTREPRENEUR AWARD
WOODLAND HILLS, CA – June 15, 2005 – Cal Net Technology Group President and CEO Zack Schuler earned the prestigious "Small Business Entrepreneur Award" award, presented by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal during an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Woodland Hills, California.

"I am thrilled to have received such an honor," said the 30 year old Schuler. "My father was an entrepreneur and ran his own business, so I saw the ups and downs first hand. But I also saw the freedom that was associated with owning your own company, so I always knew I wanted to build and grow a business."

Working out of his fraternity house in 1995, Schuler developed a technology consultant practice that grew to over 500 clients in two and a half years. This fledgling business ultimately provided the foundation for Cal Net Technology Group. After graduating from California State University, Northridge with his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and earning his Microsoft Certifications, Zack decided to change the focus of his business and transition into the networking and managed services field. Shortly after, the business thrived and expanded rapidly.

"We started in the small business market catering to companies of 50 PCs or less," Schuler said. "Over the past three years we've expanded into the medium enterprise market, though we continue to have a large small-business practice."

Since its inception, Cal Net has risen to become one of the larger independently-held network infrastructure and managed services firm in the San FernandoValley. Schuler attributes much of its success to providing outstanding customer service.

"Most of our business comes from referrals, because of the excellent quality of work we provide for our clients," Schuler said. "When we get a new customer I tell them that they aren't just a client of ours, we walk down the aisle with them. We become true business partners. When you walk in with a referral from another company, it is pretty easy to overcome the competition."

Cal Net Technology Group is an Information Technology consulting firm and outsourced computer services provider. Located in Northridge, California, they have been providing Enterprise-class technology solutions to businesses in Southern California for over 10 years.
